Third paragraph of reflective essay

While reading1984 classmates helped each other understand the book.Teddy and I helped each other understand the book.Teddy and I were partners in our group discussions and we'd answer each other questions and help each other on things we were confused about in the book.He helped me understand the book more.
I think the blogging process benefited me because it was a convenient way to do homework and to get help if we were confused about it.If I was confused about the homework on the blog I could always just look at a fellow classmates and see what they put and then it helped me understand what the assignment was.I by far liked the blogging the best out of any other homework assignment I have done before.

2nd paragraph of reflective essay "paralles "

There are some Parallels and connections from our world to the world in the novel. Some of the connections are the love for power, war and invasion of privacy. Our country loves and strives for power. We are the most powerful and strongest country in the world. And some other countries despise us for that, which then leads to why we are in war today.Or country saw that another country didn't agree with our ways and then decided to act upon it and go into war. Just like in 1984 Oceania doesn't agree with Goldstein's thinking so they began a war with them. In our world today the invasion of privacy continues to develop and increase. In our world we have video cameras in places we go into daily ,they are constantly watching us to keep an eye on us to make sure were doing nothing wrong , just like in 1984.In 1984 there world has telescreens which watch people and make sure they're doing nothing wrong. Another invasion of privacy is tapping into phone lines. Today our world taps into phone lines usually for law purposes, but its still an invasion of privacy , just like in 1984.Modern day threats in our world that fit into warnings from 1984 are power, and invasion of privacy. In our world our freedom could be in danger. A lot of people in the world love power and some do anything for it, there judgement isn't all there, it is blocked by the desire for power. And it is possible that someday our world could get influenced by bad dictators who could then lead us down into wrong paths and wars. The invasion of privacy in our world is another threat to our freedom. The invasion of privacy somewhat connects to the love for power. People who love power may invade peoples lives daily by reguarly tapping into phonelines and actually putting videocameras ,just like telescreens into peoples houses. the love for power could make people go that insane to actually invade peoples homes.

Refelective Essay-first paragraph

I chose to read 1984 and in 1984 the author gives off many warnings about how the government can withhold individual freedoms and rights .The author gives off warnings by showing us that this book could be very much like our possible future. Who knows what the future holds for this world. Our world could turn into a world very similar to 1984. Some of the warnings are the telescreens , the 4 ministries, and the enemies ( Gold stein). I think the telescreens are a warning because Countries strive for power its what a lot of people want and we face power everyday. The power to tell people what to do , the power to control people, the power to just do whatever we feel like doing such as kill people. Powers an awful thing, it can make people go mad. The telescreens were all power because they watched and listened to what everyone was doing and saying. They had people on a leash and controlled you , they made people scared to ever try to cross the line of the parties judgement. This is a warning to our world too because people all have their own opinions and some aren't so good and can turn into awful controlling parties such as "Big Brother. The 4 ministries are a warning because they all are the total opposite of their names. The ministries of love is torture , the ministries of plenty is of starvation, the ministries of truth is of all lies and the ministries of peace is war. I think our world could maybe turnout to be similar to this because besides the good people who will practice and teach their good hearts to their offspring , all the people who like the party all think the same awful things.

Agreeing with Dana :]

http://danaisamazing.blogspot.com/

I agree with Dana ,I think that if the cizitens realized that there is no thing such as "The thought police" then people would overthrow the government and take control. They would try to reveal the past , and find some sort of evidence that shows that the madeup past that the party has made is bull and that the real past is out there waiting to be seen.People don't deserve to be lied to especially from the government. If I ever found out that I was being lied to for years about my life and the past then I would fight back and be infuriated.I think everyone would be.

"Unawareness"

The thing that I think the party does that keeps people from truly seeing whats happening around them is the nurture. Most of the people who are alive as adults during this book don't remember anything from their past because they've been told otherwise. They've been told lies and untrue things about their past. The party has changes dictionarys, history books, pictures ,people and most importantly the party has changed the past. So what are the people sopposed to know , they haven't been taught about real peace and good holy things. They've been taught all the wrong things, like pain , war, power and suffering.the've been nurted to like all the horrible things they dont know the difference between good and bad.

"Two Minutes Hate"

Two minutes hate is when the party and people go to the telescreen and look at Goldstein and shout and scream at him.The party hates Goldstein because Goldstein doesn't like the way the government works and he came close to changing the Government. The people are forced to yell and scream at the telescreen because that then shows their hatred and if they show the slightest liking towards Goldstein or to not hating Goldstein ,then they get vaporized.

I find this topic to be interesting because even though all the people have to worship big brother and strongly dispise Goldstein they probably don't. Just like Winston I'm sure their our others who want a good , free country and not a dystopia. There are people who want to say something and stand up for themselves but they can't because then the though police will vaporise them. It it a terrible thing.

"The Three Party Slogans"

Im referring back to one of the non numbered questions. The question was What do you suppose the three party slogans mean? I think that the first party slogan "War is Peace" means war and fighting keeps the peace and as long as people are afraid of them ,noone will bother them. Also fighting for peace, Oceania could be fighting for peace to keep things in their order. The second party slogan "Freedom is slavery" ,I believe that ,that means inorder to become free you must be a slave and obtain by the rules.Just like in the book I think that the "Thought Police" are some what of a slavery because if you disobey, talk against them, or wish against their wishes you get vaporised and either sent to a work camp or they kill you. The third party slogan "Ignorance is Strength", I feel that , that party slogan explains alot of the book. I think that Ignorance is strength, means if you dont know any better, and you dont wish to seek into other peoples beliefs,to be closed minded and dumb is a good thing. In this book the party wants you to be stupid because if your stupid then you'll let people manipulate you and get you to agree with their ideas but if you're smart then you will see through their lies and beliefs and try to seek the truth in the matters. So when they say Ignorance is Strength , they mean ignorance is the power that helps mantain the party.
